Construction Walls Partially Removed for Journey of Water Inspired by 'Moana' at EPCOT, Replaced With Rolling Planters

Construction walls for Journey of Water Inspired by “Moana” have partially come down in World Nature at EPCOT. The attraction is scheduled to open in “late 2023.”

As the next set of Cast Member previews for the attraction approaches, we spotted that some of the construction walls, but not all, have been removed around Journey of Water Inspired by “Moana.”

As you can see in the bottom right of this photo, some construction walls are still present around the walkthrough attraction.

The construction walls that were previously here have been replaced by rolling planters.

An umbrella and temporary stanchions have been added next to the rolling planters, presumably for the Cast Member previews when they begin on September 1.

Over by the water treatment facility for the attraction, you can see that construction walls are still up around this area.

Over by the stroller parking area for Journey of Water — which had its sign moved from the center planter — construction walls are still in place.

In this panoramic shot, you can see where the green scrim walls and the rolling planters meet.

The rolling planters run down much of the length of the path on this side.

Over the planters, you can see into the attraction. Here is a display for the water cycle, featuring the symbol for the Heart of Te Fiti.

The rolling planters end here by more landscaping, and are blocked off by a temporary stanchion.

Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana” is a “self-guided outdoor trail where you can play with water as it travels from the sky to the oceans and back again.”

It will have a wet path and a dry path for guests who don’t want to get wet. It seems there won’t be MagicBand+ interaction.

“Along with Moana as a steward of water conservation, Te Fiti is a symbol of how we should protect and nurture water wherever we find it,” Reid Ekman, Lead Concept Designer at Walt Disney Imagineering, said of the giant Te Fiti figure at the attraction. “This is an important theme in Journey of Water, where guests will learn more about how water travels from our skies to the ocean, and back again. This story will unfold along a lush trail inspired by the environments and art style of the beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios film.”

Cast Members working at Journey of Water and The Seas With Nemo & Friends will have convertible environmentally-friendly costumes.
